The Book Nook is located in the main lobby of the library directly across from the circulation desk, and sells gently-used, high quality books. Donations of these items are encouraged and accepted at any time. Money raised through Book Nook sales goes to the Friends of GPL to support the Greenwood Public Library.
What donations will the library accept?
We accept materials in good condition including hardcover and paperback books, DVDs, audiobooks, and VHS tapes.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept certain items due to storage constraints including:
- Encyclopedia Sets
- VHS and Cassette Tapes
What does the library do with donations?
Many of the donations we receive are added to the collection as new items, additional copies of popular titles, or to replace worn copies. Books and multimedia items in excellent
condition that are not added to the collection are sorted for sale in the Library’s Book Nook or donated to Better World Books, an eco-friendly organization that donates a percentage back to the library after selling the items.
Think your donations do not count? Believe us they do! The Greenwood Public LIbrary saves thousands of dollars each year from donated materials. Some are copies of materials we want to purchase but don't have to after it is donated which saves money; other donations save us money in replacing items that are "well used" in the collection; and some donations are materials that we want to keep in the collection but would not have had an opportunity to purchase out of our limited book budget. Thank you for your ongoing donations!
